Fleming, Jerry Ray Jerry Ray Fleming, 56, of Terrell passed away on February 12, 2012. He was born October 17, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. Jerry, also known as Papa J to his grandchildren and as Flem-Flam or J-Dawg to his friends, loved to work in his yard and was the “Mayor of the Porch” at his shop in Canton where he and his beloved wife, LeAnn operated a business. He worked for Atmos Energy for 30 years where he was known to his customers as “The Gas Man with the smiling blue eyes.” Jerry was a true humanitarian, purchasing heaters and delivering them to those in need. Never an unkind word was spoken by Jerry about others, who attest “to know him was to love him.” Jerry was a dedicated husband and father, who coached baseball, football and basketball for his sons’ teams during their childhood. He even played on a men’s slow pitch baseball team for 16 years. But his favorite sport was football. And his team was the Dallas Cowboys. You couldn’t find a more dedicated fan. His support began in the 1960’s and continued through the good and bad times. His Dallas Cowboy collection rivaled that of any true fan’s. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Fleming, brother Dean Fleming and Aunt Angela St. Clair. Those left to celebrate his life are devoted wife LeAnn Richardson, children Casey, Andrew and Matthew Fleming and Lindsey Hanan, step children Kelly Richardson Dyer and Shane Richardson, and grandchildren Wyatt, Sydnee, and Lexi Rae. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, February 16 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home. In keeping with Jerry’s immense love of his family, memorials in his name may be made to an educational scholarship fund set up for his grandchildren: Jerry Fleming Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o City Bank-Forney, PO Box 5, Forney, TX, 75126.
