Thelma M. Hansen, 93, of Big Spring, died Sunday, February 18, 2018 in a local nursing home. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Brad Daniels, chaplain with Hospice of West Texas, officiating.

She was born May 13, 1924 in Fairfax, Virginia and married John David Hansen September 7, 1951 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death December 28, 1994.

Thelma came to Big Spring in 1951 and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1955, returning to Big Spring in 1975. She worked with John at J. D. Hanson Dental Laboratory until his death and was a homemaker. She enjoyed baseball, football and playing bingo.

Survivors include two nieces, Sharon Gran and husband, Bill of Florida and Patty Kendall and husband, Carl of Maryland; and close friends, Vance East of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Margie Mortin of Marion, Alabama, Emma Oliver of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Lula Mae Hughes of Hobbs, New Mexico and George and Irene Wilson of Big Spring. Also surviving is Patricio Silva of Ecuador, a foreign exchange student who stayed with John and Thelma and who considered them second parents.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lehman and Minnie Belle Groves Snyder; and two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

The family and friends want to thank the staff at Big Spring Center for Skilled Care for the excellent care they provided for Thelma.
