L.W. Sides

Luther Wade "L.W." Sides was born March 20,1933 in Blackfoot, Texas. He was the son of L.E. and Irene (Royale) Sides. He married his first wife Joyce September 12, 1950 in Athens, Texas. She passed away August 1984. He then married Harriet October 4, 1986 in Tyler,Texas. L.W. was member of Post Oak Baptist Church; the Northwest Texas Field and Stream Association where he was vital part of the Girls Fishing Day and the annual Boys Deer Hunt. He was also a lifetime member of the Optimist Club where he served as President, Vice President, Master Secretary and Treasurer. While a part of the Optimist Club, L.W. received the President’s Award and the Optimist International District Community Projects Award. He was also a member of the Wichita Falls Boys and Girls Club Alumni and the Texas Retired Teacher’s Association. L.W. retired after 27 years with the Tyler Independent School District; 10 years as Director of Distribution at Rudeco Oil and Gas. And he most enjoyed working as a rancher on the Happy C Ranch since June 1990. L.W. passed away Thursday, June 7,2018 at his home on the Happy C Ranch at the age of 85 years old.
He is survived today by his wife, Harriet Sides of Jacksboro; daughter, Kathy Crawley and spouse Gevan Werley of Baytown, TX; sons, Tom and Pam Sides of Willis, TX; Will and Denise Mangum of Jacksboro and Wade Mangum and Malcolm Brown of Austin,TX; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
