HONEY GROVE A service for Velveeta (Stidham) Tanner, 82, of Wolfe City, Texas, has been scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Wolfe City. Rev. Tim Hearn will officiate. Interment will follow at the Webb Hill Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service starting at 1 p.m.
Ms. Tanner passed away after a short illness.
Velveeta (Stidham) Tanner was born in Wolfe City on Feb. 24, 1936, to Charles Homer Stidham and Hester Lee (Bench) Stidham. Velveeta graduated from Wolfe City High School in 1954. She worked for Henington Publishing Co. for 30 years and was a seamstress at Parker Manufacturing for 10 years. She loved the outdoors; especially camping and water skiing in her younger days. Velveeta was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wolfe City.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jamy Giles, Ron Ferguson, Charles Armstrong, Jake Caldwell, Stevie Sanders, David Marshall, and Charles Ray Sanders. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Sanders, Gene Dawson, and Jack Frost.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Phil Tanner and wife Chanda of Wolfe City; grandchildren Brooke Tanner of Dallas, Texas, Ali Neat and husband David of Houston, Texas, and Bowie Tanner of Wolfe City; sisters Jimmie Lindsey and Charlsie Bowers and husband Pat; and brother Buster Stidham and loving sister-in-law Sherry.
