Mrs. Lee Esther Mae Labeaux Spencer-Lovingood

Mrs. Lee Esther Mae Labeaux Spencer-Lovingood, 97, passed on July 5, 2018 in Carthage, TX. She was born on November 28, 1920 in New Iberia, LA. She was the first born of ten children to Robert Labeaux, Sr. and Louelva Hayes Labeaux.
She was baptized Catholic and was educated at Hebert High School in Beaumont, TX. She moved to San Francisco, CA in the early 1940’s. She married Edward Spencer 1939 and later divorced. She later married James Lovingood in 1976 until his death in 1989. They were together a total of 36 years. They lived in Richmond, CA and worked at the Jack Tar Hotel-Cathedral Hill and retired together in 1985. She worked 25 years as the Chief Linen Room Coordinator. After retiring, she worked an additional 17 years for the Senior Nutrition Program for the City of Richmond, CA. She moved to Carthage in 2017.
Her ashes will be laid to rest with her late husband, James Lovingood, at the Olivet Memorial Park in Colma, CA. A memorial service will be held at a future date. She was a beautiful and thoughtful person who was well-liked and special to all who knew her. A special thanks to the staff and caregivers at the Carthage Healthcare Center.
Cherishing her memories are her daughter, Cheryll Spencer (Donald Wilcotts) Tinika Plaicido (God daughter); sisters, Marjorine Hopkins of Richmond, CA, Juanita Ann Seals and Camille Thibodeaux (Larry), both of Beaumont; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hawthorn Funeral Home.
