Derrell Wayne Colburn was born in the small country town of Winters, TX on March 14, 1947 to his loving parents Calvin "Doug" and Cleo Colburn. On August 26, 1967, he married his best friend, Sherry Ross. With the help of his wife he graduated from Texas Tech in 1970. He then planted his family in the Dallas area where he began to work for Coca-Cola. He made Coca-Cola his only career, working for them 43 years to fulfill his dream of providing his grandkids with college…He succeeded. He loved the Lord and loved his family. Derrell spent his time taking his grandkids fishing, and when he didn’t have time for that he took them hunting. Derrell provided many vacations for his entire family and created lasting memories. He welcomed all to his home for the holidays and wherever the family was, he was the light in the room or the cook on the grill. Everyone who knew him learned life lessons about loving and caring for all, not from words, but from his actions. After retirement, he had the dream of building the Colburn Ranch to bring all of the things he loved, fishing, hunting and his family to one place. He was our all time whiffle ball pitcher, best fisher, hunter and cook. His loving spirit and contagious smile will be missed by all. The Colburn Ranch is where you can find Derrell Colburn "Pawpaw", resting his head now. He is survived by his mother, Cleo Sprinkle Colburn, brother, Ronald Colburn, wife, Sherry Colburn, children, Shane Colburn and wife, Wendy, Michelle Kiel and husband, Jim, Ashley Colburn and wife, Beth and Daisy Colburn, "his buddy" and grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, Blake, Kailey, Hunter, Preston, Brett, Cason and Kade.
