On Friday, July 27, 2018, Frank Ardell Smith at the age of 84 passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Kerrville, Texas after a long battle of cancer.
Ardell was born on May 25, 1934 in Lincoln, Kansas to Keith and Thelma Smith. He married Kathy in Gainesville, Texas in 1999 and they lived in West Fall, Kansas for 16 years before moving to Kerrville in 2015.
Ardell had a very interesting life with many different hobbies and jobs. From mowing contracts for military and landscaping to making garden art, selling antiques and refurbishing old windmills. He also was a pilot and liked to fish and metal detect.
He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 18 years Kathy Smith, mother Thelma Smith of Lincoln, Kansas, his brother Stephan Smith and wife Carolyn of Basehor, Kansas, his children, Ralph Smith and wife Mary of Ellsworth, Kansas, Laura Smith of Okemos, Michigan, Lee Ann Hassman and husband Gregg of Washington, Iowa, Tessa Smith of Lockhart, Texas, Susan Kloeckner of Haslett, Michigan, Shelby Smith and wife Nora of Castroville, Texas, Jenny Smith and Husband Ryan Hengst of San Antonio, Texas, his stepchildren, Ryan Teeler of Edinburg, Texas, Shannon Liffrig and husband Troy of San Antonio, Texas, Aaron Teeler and wife Melissa of Cibolo, Texas, along with 12 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Keith Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Ardell may be made to the American Cancer Society.
He was a caring, kind man with an amazing sense of humor and will be missed deeply.
