Jean Bailey Stavenhagen, 81, of Clarendon, died on Thursday, August 16, 2018 in Clarendon.
Services will be at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Randy Land and Rev. Lance Wood, officiating. Burial will follow in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Jean was born September 18, 1936 in Giles, Donley County, Texas to Elmore and Margie Land Bailey. She was a 1954 graduate of Hedley High School. She married Mac J. Stavenhagen on June 2, 1956 in Hedley. She received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from West Texas State University. Jean taught English, Speech, and was Librarian for Clarendon CISD from 1971-2000. Jean had a passion for local history and was involved helping to get the Donley County Courthouse renovated as well as getting the Depot moved out to the grounds of Saints’ Roost Museum. She served as chairman of the Donley County Historical Commission where she helped many obtain historical markers throughout Clarendon and Donley County. Jean also served on the Saints’ Roost Museum board and was a member of First Baptist Church in Clarendon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 infant daughters, Lisa Gay and Mitzi Gail Stavenhagen; and 2 brothers, Stanley and Terry Bailey.
Survivors include her husband, Mac Stavenhagen of Clarendon; a son, Steve Stavenhagen of Amarillo; a sister, Nita Graham and husband Gary of Memphis; 2 grandchildren, Cody Stavenhagen and Casey Stavenhagen.
The family request that memorials be made to the Rowe Cemetery Association in Hedley.
