Harry Herman Eschberger was born January 1, 1935 in Bastrop County, Texas to Herman Jacob Eschberger and Lina Hedwig (Schmidt) Eschberger. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in the Paint Creek Community.

He was united in marriage to Gertrude Lillian Albrecht on September 22, 1956 in the Pastor’s Parsonage of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor, Texas. This marriage was blessed with four daughters Suzanne, Debbie, Carolyn and Lisa.

Harry passed away the afternoon of Thursday September 6, 2018 at St. David’s Medical Center in Austin surrounded by family.

Upon the death of Harry’s dad, he farmed the homestead at the age of 15. He went to work for Elgin Butler Brick Company from 1956-1978. He then went to work for P&O Falco/Enron from 1978-1996. He retired in 1996 due to knee surgeries. Having truck driving in his blood he purchased a dump truck and hauled sand and gravel to many people making lots of friends in the process. You could find him on the farm working on his tractor (using it like a bulldozer) with his pet dog beside him.

Harry was very talented with barbecuing. He was chief in charge of making the best barbecue in the Paige area for many functions throughout his years. He has passed his skills on to family members to carry on his tradition.
