Louise Marie Rother

Funeral services for Louise Rother, 92, of Paige, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Ryan Grube officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

Louise Marie Rother was born on July 30, 1926 in Paige, Texas, the second of four children born to Walter Robert Rother Sr. and Louise Marie (Behrend) Rother. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Paige, Texas. She remained a member of St. John Lutheran Church for nearly 90 years until the church closed and she transferred her membership to Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings. Louise received her Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Texas State University and her Master’s Degree from Vanderbilt. Louise was a second grade teacher with the Austin Independent School District for many years. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of the flowers in her yard, especially her roses.

Louise passed away during the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 12, 2018 following a brief illness. She was able to leave this world in the same home that she was born in ninety two years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Walter Rother Jr. and his wife, Ruby and her two sisters, Johanna Rother and Edna Rother.

Louise is survived by her two nieces, Barbara Weitzenkorn and her husband, Bill of The Hills and Rose Murray of Cypress; one great nephew, Cody Williams and his wife, Teresa of Wimberly; three great nieces, Mollie Sherman and her husband, Chris of Wichita Falls, Wendy Wilson and her husband, Byron of Denver, Colorado and Debra Weaver and her husband, Jason of Cypress and several cousins.

Serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Kunkel, Arthur Behrend, Brett Behrend, Cody Williams, Bill Weitzenkorn and Brad Diaz.
