Cecil Clarence “Toby” Hicks, 99, of Shamrock, died on Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Pampa.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock, TX with Keith Ralston, officiating.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Cecil was born on October 23, 1918 in Shamrock to Charles and Susie Gragg Hicks. He served in the United States Army before moving to the Lela and becoming a farmer. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Shamrock. He enjoyed learning about horticulture, making peach rum and beer, watching the sunset, and riding his motorcycle. He was a cowboy, rancher, and a farmer. He was always on the cutting edge of farming techniques and was an innovator.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 8 nephews; 6 brothers Essie Hicks, Jess Hicks, JT Hicks, Leon Hicks, Paul Hicks, and Clyde Hicks; and 3 sisters Ola Braxton, Josie O’Grady, and Rose Anderson.
Survivors include 6 nephews; 6 nieces; and numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be sent to Boy’s Ranch or Shamrock FFA.
