A funeral service for Billy Bacon, age 89, of Frankston, is scheduled at 2 o'clock in the afternoon Friday, September 28, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, Frankston. Rev. Jeff Godwin, Rev. Scott Wiley, and Roger McDonald will officiate. Graveside service will be at Frankston City Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
Billy passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in Frankston.
He was born July 11, 1929 in Smith County to Murphy & Lillie (Webb) Bacon.
He was a member of the William Foster Masonic Lodge AF & AM for 64+ years. Billy began his automotive career in the early 1950's with Phillips Chevrolet in Frankston. He continued to grow the Bacon Family of Dealerships to include Frankston, Jacksonville, Palestine, and Athens. The dealerships have been given Customer Satisfaction awards for many years. He was associated with the Family Road Construction, Caldwell Zoo, Associated Pipeline, the Palestine Sale Barn, and First National Bank, Frankston.
He was passionate about his horses and loved going on tail rides and rodeos. His hobbies included anything with mules and wagons. Yes, he loved to work but at the heart of it all was his family and he cherished time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed listening to western swing music.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Murphy Bacon, Jr. and O'Neal Bacon; and sister-in-law, Monnie Bacon.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Pattye Bacon; sons, Billy “Dude” Bacon, Britt Bacon and wife Julie; grandchildren, Bryson Bacon, Becca Bacon, Bayne Bacon, and Brenson Bacon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Bacon, Jerry Bacon, Drew Bacon, Roger Bacon, Bryson Bacon, Bayne Bacon, Doyle Smith, and David Westbrook.
Honorary pallbearers include Becca Bacon, Brenson Bacon, the extended Bacon Family of Dealerships, and the members of the William Foster Masonic Lodge.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, September 27, 2018 and friends are cordially invited to visit with Billy's family from 6 to 8 o'clock in the evening at the First Baptist Church, Frankston.
