Nora Mae Wells Austin, 96, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018, in Claude, TX surrounded by her family.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., (MST) Friday, October 5, 2018, at Mountainair Assembly of God Church in Mountainair, New Mexico. Burial will be in Mountainair Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Nora was born on August 7, 1922, to James L. Wells and Mennel McDaniels Wells in Claunch, NM, where she attended public school.
Nora married Olin L. Austin on Jan. 1, 1942, a union of 50 years. They were blessed with four children, Hubert, Marlin, Lenora and J.D. Nora gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Estancia, NM and was a life-long resident of the Estancia Valley. She was a devoted wife and mother and a wonderful cook. She loved to sew and make quilts besides enjoying her family. She always had the camera ready for pictures.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Lee Don Austin; and five brothers, Marvin, Vernie, Ray, Jack and Bill Wells.
She is survived by her children, Hubert and Laurel, of Abernathy, TX, Marlin and Kelly of Claude, TX, Lenora and Andy Berry of Texhoma, TX and J.D. and Lynne of Iowa Park, TX; eight grandchildren; Jeanine Fischer, Jarret Austin, Tammie Mack, Trisha Laroux, Bret Austin, Lee Berry, Levi Berry, and Ace Berry; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dora Hubbard of Socorro, NM and Lora Morris, of Andrews, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Mountainair Cemetery in care of Harris Hanlon Mortuary, Box 366, Moriarty, NM 87035.
