STEWART, Robert

Robert F (Bob) Stewart, age 88, beloved husband of 66 years to Joan Moore Stewart, passed on to his Lord and Maker Saturday Sept 29, 2018. Born July 6, 1930 to Robert F. Stewart, Sr. and Grace Borders Stewart in Breckenridge, Texas he graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1948 and enrolled at North Texas Univ. in Denton immediately. After 2 1/2 years he knew he might soon be drafted into the army as the Korean action had begun. Instead he enlisted in the Air Force along with 3 good friends from high school in January 1951.
After 6 weeks at Lackland in San Antonio, he was shipped out to March Air Force Base at Riverside, CA. Because he had had 2 1/2 years of college and could type he was assigned to the legal office, where he worked in the claims dept. In June 1952 he and Joan were married and lived in Riverside until his enlistment was over in January 1955.
It had been his plan to raise cattle and live on the ranch near Breckenridge, but Texas was still in the throes of the severe drought of the 50's and he decided that the timing wasn't right to buy cattle.
So he and Joan went to Abilene where he worked doing drafting for an oil man until he decided to go back to school, this time to Texas Tech. He enrolled there and graduated in 1959 with a bachelors degree in accounting.
He became an owner with 2 partners of Air Conditioning Supply Co. in Lubbock. Bob and Joan adopted two son's, Nate in 1962 and Matt in 1965.
In 1967 Bob and his partners sold Air Conditioning Supply Company to an individual in Fort Worth and in May 1967 the family moved to Fort Worth where he helped the owner with the transition of the company. As the transition was coming to a close, Bob became Credit Manager for Rangaire in Cleburne, commuting at first then in 1969 the family moved to Cleburne. After a few years he became Treasurer of Rangaire and in time was Chief Financial Officer.
Bob was also a member of MAMCA a national credit managers association, with people from Magnavox and Whirlpool as members, he later served as president of MAMCA.
For a period of time Bob taught night classes in accounting at Tarrant County Jr. College.
After 20 years with Rangaire he bought sign equipment and went to work with his son, Nate, at Nate Stewart Advertising. He learned to make beautiful computer-generated signs and enjoyed the contact with customers with whom he had an excellent rapport.
Joan worked with them in the business until they retired at the end of 2005 doing the clerical work and as purchasing agent.
In his retirement Bob enjoyed leisure time with his family and working in the yard which he kept in excellent shape.
