Enrique was born in Laredo, Texas, on May 30, 1916, the first of four children of Enrique Clemente Benavides and Josefa Garcia Benavides. He graduated from the University of Texas Pharmacy School in 1942. Sr. Julia served the Lord with ardent joy and zeal as a catechist for 44 years in several parishes in San Antonio and Laredo, TX. She left an indelible mark especially in the Parroquia de San Jose in Laredo, where she worked for 24 consecutive years teaching young and old how to know, love and serve Christ.
