Evelyn “Tommye” Sandlin, 88, of Anahuac, TX, passed away on Nov. 14, 2019 in Mt. Pleasant, TX. She was born on March 22, 1931 in Anahuac, TX to J.O. “Ollie” and Orena (Newman) Nelson.
Tommye was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Anahuac, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Delta Kappa Gamma, Fine Arts Club, PTA, Adult Literacy volunteer, Past President Chambers Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Aggie Moms and Rainbow Girls. She enjoyed a long career as a public school teacher in Pasadena, and Anahuac ISD.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Annaleisa and Don Boggs; daughter, Allison Kelly; son and daughter-in-law, Ollie and Lynda Sandlin; sister, JoAnn Matthews; sister in law, Rita Sandlin; grandchildren, Sarah Boggs, Bryan Boggs, Joe and Shelia Boggs, Logan LaValley, Madelyn Sandlin, Charles Sandlin; great grandchildren, Brenae Reeves, Kaylie Reeves Joey Boggs and Dodi Boggs; brother-in-law, Bill Ashby; plus a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Sandlin; sister, Loda Gibson and a grandson, Richard Boggs.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Anahuac with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Anahuac Cemetery.
