HARVEY, Nolan Ray

Nolan Ray Harvey, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Ray was born to W.A. and Sarah Harvey on April 6, 1938, in Concord, Texas. He grew up and attended school in Jasper, Texas where he participated in all school sports and activities. He worked helping in the family grocery store and loved hunting and fishing.
After graduating from Jasper High School and Angelina Technical School, he went to work for a new company in Houston, Texas. The Curtis Mathis Corporation where he trained in sales and management.; after training he was moved to Oklahoma where he spent several years setting up and training Curtis Mathis dealers. He was successful and was promoted to management, and eventually transferred to the corporate offices in Dallas Texas in the early '70s where he met the love of his life, Joyce Elaine Thomas. They were married March 17, 1972. He moved his family to Athens in the early '80s, where he started his own business, Harvey Industries, which eventually became Curtis Mathis, which had been a landmark in Athens for years. Retiring in the mid 90's he continued his love for life and family either at the deer camp or the lake house.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, W.A. and Sarah Harvey; great granddaughter, Lexi Commander.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Elaine Harvey; son, Don Harvey and wife Deanie of Longview, Texas; daughter, Debra Lynn McKinney and husband Robert of Fredericksburg, Texas, Debbie Stewart and husband Ralph of Lindale, Texas; Daryl Hall and wife Jayne of Athens, Texas.
He was blessed with many wonderful grandchildren: Tommy Ray Russell and wife Cathy, Jaclyn Harvey, Donny Ray Harvey and wife Carman, Jessica Kellis, Stephen Nunlee , Halie Heron, Katie Crabtree; great grandchildren, Deacon, Caroline, Jacelyn, Dakotah, Fisher, Haigen, Wyatt, Cainen, Eloise, Asher, Brooks and Eli; sister, Betty Jenkins and husband James of Athens; niece, Shelia Goldman and husband Neil of Cypress, Texas; nephew, Ricky Jenkins of San Antonio, Texas; two great nephews , Nathan Goldman of Cypress, Texas, Ernest Goldman and wife Elizabeth, and great niece Peyton Goldman of Crowley, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Autry's Carroll-Lehr Chapel.
