Rosalio “Chalio” – “Panama” Fernandez Salinas, Sr., Age 89 of Kenedy, TX passed away on June 8, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. Rosalio was born on May 4, 1933 in Stockdale, TX to the late Juan and Maria Fernandez Salinas. He served his country proudly in the United States Army was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather retired as a cotton gin compress foreman and oilfield truck driver and was a devout member of the First Mexican Baptist Church in Kenedy, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Maria Fernandez Salinas; wife, Bobbie Jean Baker Salinas; daughter, Ruth Ann Salinas; 5 sisters and 5 brothers.
He is survived by former spouse and mother of his children, Maria Fernandez of Corpus Christi, daughters, Rose Longoria and husband Blas of Corpus Christi, Lydia Leos of Corpus Christi, Aurora Alvarez and husband Albert of Karnes City, Debra Salinas of Houston, Helen Garza and husband James of Victoria, Consuelo Salinas of Beeville; sons, John Salinas of Kenedy, Rosalio Fernandez Salinas, Jr of Kenedy, Joseph E. Salinas of Kenedy; sisters, Frances Cipple and Anna Lee Antoma of San Marcos; 37 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, his beloved dog and cherished longtime companion Millie and a host of extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be Monday, June 13, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.
