HULL, Robert Thomas

Posted on January 6, 2023 by Texas Death Notices
Robert Thomas Hull, born January 11, 1928, in the Hubbard, Tx, area, passed away in the early morning hours of September 25, 2022, in Corsicana, TX, after a 94-year-long life dedicated to service.
Robert was the nicest man you ever met. He was simply special. He always had a smile for everyone he met, and if you met him, that is mostly likely what you remember.
Robert lived his life to serve. He served his wife, his child, his community, his employer, and his country.
Robert once said he was lucky to have deeply loved two women in his life. First, Robert loved Bernice Bennight. They married in 1952 and spent the next 58 years in matrimonial bliss. Robert and Bernice had one son, Bill, who was raised with love and devotion until his early death. Bernice passed in 2010. Bill died in 2015 with Robert by his side.
In May 2011, Robert married his second love, Julia Crawford. He was a devoted husband and companion until Julia passed on January 19, 2018.
Robert is survived by two grandchildren Robert “Wade” Hull of Ennis, TX, and Natalie Turner Hull, of Chillicothe, MO. The legacy he left his grandchildren is one of service: Wade serves his community in various manners, including work with the Ennis Chamber of Commerce, and Natalie is a public defender helping defend indigent clients in court. Robert was very proud of them.
Robert set his example of service through years of service with the Corsicana Lions Club. He was elected president in 1977.
Robert spent more than 30 years working for Central Freight Lines as a truck driver and eventually retired as the terminal manager in Corsicana in 1992.
Many mornings after (and before) found him joking with friends at Roy’s Cafe eating runny scrambled eggs. He was an avid traveler and loved talking about the places he had been and comparing notes.
During World War II, Robert served his country in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre.
Robert is preceded in death by wife Bernice Bennight Hull, wife Julia Crawford Hull, son Garland “Bill” Hull, siblings Altha Sanders, Dorothy Carlton, Bud Hull, Marjorie Wells, and parents William Grady Hull and Cecil Hull. He is survived by grandson Robert “Wade” Hull and wife Jennifer of Ennis, TX, and their daughters, Joey and Jordan, granddaughter Natalie Turner Hull and partner Jared Nietfeld, of Chillicothe, MO, daughter-in-law Jo Anne Hull of Irving, TX, nephew Michael Sanders of Waco, TX, and his family, as well as numerous extended family members and friends who heard his stories and laughed with him over the years.
