    Douglas “Van” Proffitt was born on August 2, 1947 in Dallas to Erbie and Noraline Proffitt. He passed away on September 22, 2018 in Midlothian, Texas. He is preceded in death by his son Michael Bryan Proffitt. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Proffitt, brother: Charles Proffitt, sister: Gayle McDonald and nieces Kimberly Foutain and Kelly Schadt. Van served in the U.S. Navy. He loved fishing, boating and spending time at the lake house in Whitney, Texas. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Graveside services will be held on Monday September 24, 2018 at 3pm in Midlothian Cemetery.
